Something not working, or a question about Ferry? Email ferry@nollie.net. It helps to say which device you're on and what you did just before the problem.

Where are my notes kept?

Signed out, they're on the device you wrote them on. Signed in, they're in your account, and every device signed in to it shows the same notes.

How do I get my notes on another device?

Sign in to the same account on both. When you sign in, the notes already on the device move into the account next to the ones already there; nothing is overwritten.

To move notes without an account, export them on one device and import the file on the other.

Which way should I sign in?

The same way on every device. Google, Microsoft and an email address work everywhere; Sign in with Apple is on iPhone and the Mac for now. Signing in a different way can land you in a separate account, with different notes.

I replaced some text by accident

Open the note's history and pick an earlier version. Restoring a version can itself be undone.

How do I delete a note for good?

Deleting a note moves it to the trash, where you can still restore it. Delete it from the trash to remove it, and its history, permanently.

How do I export my notes?

In the notes list, choose Export; on the phone it's in the menu. You get one zip file with a Markdown file for each note and notes.json, which holds everything, history included. Import takes that file back in.

How do I delete my account?

Email ferry@nollie.net from the address you sign in with and ask for your account to be deleted. We'll delete the account and all of its notes within 30 days and confirm by email. Export your notes first if you want to keep a copy.
