Ferry for Linux
Pick the package your distribution uses, for your computer's processor: x86_64 for most PCs, ARM64 for 64-bit ARM computers. Ferry needs Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 12 or Fedora 36, or anything newer.
| Package | x86_64 | ARM64 |
|---|---|---|
| AppImageAny distribution, and updates itself | Download | Download |
| .debUbuntu, Debian, Linux Mint | Download | Download |
| .rpmFedora | Download | Download |
Running the AppImage
Let it run as a program, then open it. In a terminal, in the folder you downloaded it to:
chmod +x Ferry-x86_64.AppImage
./Ferry-x86_64.AppImage
The AppImage checks for a new version each day and installs it, ready for the next time Ferry starts.
Installing the .deb or .rpm
Install it with your package manager, which fetches what Ferry needs:
sudo apt install ./ferry-amd64.deb
sudo dnf install ./ferry-x86_64.rpm
Ferry then shows up with your other applications. These packages don't update themselves: to update, download the new one and install it the same way. Your notes stay where they are.
Good to know
- Notes float in their own windows and can stay on top of everything else, on X11 and on Wayland alike.
- Wayland doesn't let apps set a keyboard shortcut of their own. To get one for a new note, add a shortcut in your desktop's keyboard settings that runs the command Ferry's Settings shows you.
- Ferry Pro is bought in Ferry's Settings, as on Windows: see pricing.
